EGGSTRAVAGANZA! - EASTER EGG HUNT
Many Churches use Easter Egg Hunts as an outreach and fun event for their children.

Here are a few tricks to make yours an outreach not just an event.

Give a clear presentation of the Easter Message. Do this prior to the hunt so that children and parents hear the true meaning of Easter.
Have handouts about your children's ministry. Do a drawing for a gift where parents have to fill out name, address and phone number so you have contact info. Use this opportunity to invite.
Have extra eggs to give the children who do not get many. This act of kindness will go far with the parents of these little ones.
Designate areas according to age.
Have an area set aside for "Special Needs" children.
Have bins for parents to put the plastic eggs in after the children have opened and gotten the candy out.. Most parents and children will be happy to return the eggs after they are emptied of the contents inside. This will save you tons of money in years to come.
Buy plastic eggs after Easter for the next year. They are always on sale!

SPORTS OUTREACH
No matter what sports season it is children love sports. You may have members of your local high school teams attending your church or better yet, a coach!
If you know a Christian teen or Christian coach on a local High School team invite them to give their testimony to your children on a Sunday morning. Ask if they have any other Christians athletes on their team who would be willing to give their testimony as well. Contact the coach and ask them to bring as many of the team to the service as possible. Ask the team wear their jerseys or uniforms. Tell the team you will give them a nice donation for coming. Most teams would love to come as they have to do fundraisers anyway. Ask the members of the team to show some of the basic skills needed to play. Kids will love it!
Prepare a fun message using ideas from that particular sport or talk about Jesus being the ultimate coach and the Bible being our playbook. Play testimony clips of professional athletes and bloopers found online. Athletes in Action have sites.
At the end of the morning give each child something that represents that sport. We have given out soccer balls painted with the wordless book colors, autograph pages and football penants to our children for the various Sports.
Autograph time! Have tables set up and sharpies ready for each player to sign the balls, objects or Autograph papers you provide. Kids love this! They look up to teenagers!
When we did soccer Sunday we invited both the guys and the girls teams from two lacal High School. It was great!

ONCE UPON A TIME
As a child I loved fairy tales. I would read them in school and at home. They had a way of taking your imagination to a different place and time. Today with the testing schedules in our schools and TV dominating our children's time, the classic fairy tales are lost to many . Most children only know the ones created by Disney. As I was thinking back to my childhood and fairy tales I thought of the many good morals taught through them. I began to think about God's word and not only the Bible teaching us morals but teaching us transforming truths. At that moment I knew what I wanted to teach at our Children's Church. I wanted to use the classic fairy tales and take their moral lessons a step further and a whole lot deeper by presenting them with the true Historical life Transforming Tales found in God's Word. This birthed my curriculum series, "Once Upon A Time" Where Fairy Tales teach but God's Word transforms"
