Easter Egg Hunts are a blast for children. The areas are marked off for each age group and when the signal is given the children rush in to collect as many eggs as possible. It is a mad rush to pick up every egg and find the infamous "prize egg"!
I'm all about Egg hunts but I want it to minister to every child that comes to this event.
I think every hunt needs to share the Real message of Easter as well as minister to Special needs children.
Set aside an area designated for children with special needs. Make sure you have it in an area where wheel chairs can move. Have helpers ready to hold baskets and assist each child one on one. Use large Dowel rods and hot glue strong magnets on the ends for the children in wheel chairs to use to pick up magnetic eggs. Hot glue magnets on the outside of the eggs in the wheel chair designated area.
Have an interpreter standing by for any deaf children attending.
Some Special Needs children struggle in areas where there is too much stimulation so have their designated area away from the large crowd of children. Hide their eggs out in the open and give them plenty of time to find the eggs.
Advertise this area in your publicity and you will be surprised at how this touches the parents.
